Case Study: A Rooftop Box Cricket Turf (Dera Bassi, Chandigarh)

How It Started
This one began the way we like our best stories to begin organically. The turf’s owner came across one of our social media posts and videos online, liked what he saw, and reached out to us directly. He visited our office at The Digital Geek, and that’s where the collaboration began.
At the time, the turf was barely a week old. It was a brand-new rooftop box cricket setup, completely offline no website, no social media presence, no system to bring in members. Just a fresh space with a lot of potential and zero visibility.
We took on the project for complete digital marketing: branding, content, ads, and strategy the whole journey from offline to online.
What We Did
- Built the website and social media handles (Instagram, Facebook) from zero
- Daily posting + 3 videos a week (shot and edited in-house) turf highlights, player energy, behind-the-scenes content
- Ran Meta Ads for both awareness and membership leads
- Commissioned drone shoots to showcase the rooftop setup in a way regular content couldn’t giving viewers a real sense of the space and experience
- Partnered with local influencers to create buzz and reach a wider, trust-driven audience
The Strategy Behind It
Getting people to notice a new turf is one thing getting them to actually join as members is another. So we built a strategy specifically designed to convert interest into memberships.
The idea: organize a rooftop cricket tournament. We introduced local gully cricket players to the rooftop format through a competitive event multiple teams, real competition, and a trophy + prize for the winning team.
This wasn’t just an event it was a growth engine:
- We created dedicated videos, posts, and stories around the tournament to build anticipation and organic reach
- We ran targeted Meta Ads, but before that, we studied the local area carefully understanding the audience’s spending capacity and setting membership pricing that felt accessible and fair for that specific market
- The tournament created real, organic word-of-mouth buzz that spread far beyond what ads alone could achieve
The Results
- Following the tournament, students and local players joined memberships at scale
- Consistent content turned the turf into a recognizable local brand
- Membership sign-ups increased by approximately 3–4x within 30 days post-tournament, generating an estimated 120–160 new membership enquiries through a combination of Meta Ads and organic content
- Leads came in through both paid ads and organic content a healthy, sustainable mix

In just a week-old business, a well-planned event combined with consistent content and smart, locally-informed ad targeting turned an empty rooftop into a thriving local brand.
